While Lola’s vocabulary is growing by the day, to spend an afternoon with her you’d think it consists of three words: no, mine & poop. She spends a good deal of her time defining who people are & who owns what around the house. While this can go from really cute to irritating pretty quickly it does have its moments. Last Tuesday she & I were at the park & a curious little boy touched her back, she stopped, turned to him & said firmly “no, my butt” – we hope she’s still saying that in 14 years.

When she sees something she’d like to do or somewhere she’d like us to stop (we drive by a park for example) she sing-song yells “ready”. When in a possessive mood its “MINE!”.

She’s recently discovered Shrek & she loves him.

She gets very frusterated that Miles (our cat) doesn’t want to go in her swimming pool or lay where she wants him to, when she wants him to. She clearly has a lot to learn about cats.

Her favorite game right now is “night, night” where she has Tim or I lay on the floor and lays a blanket over us & pats our back while saying “night, night”.

She LOVES “Twinkle, twinkle little star”, I sang it 8 times in a row last night. If she sees a star she calls them “Up-a” taken from “Up above the world so high”. When we say, “yes Lola, that is a star” she responds firmly with “UP-A”.

She associates things that are difficult with the word heavy. If she can’t lift it, it’s heavy – the other day she was struggling with a twist off cap, after some time she looked at me and thought for a moment then said “heavy?”, I said “difficult” – ah, English.

Lola & I (or “mommy” as Lola says) just returned from four days in San Diego. We were able to spend a great deal of time with 2 of Lola’s four aunts and her uncle Nemesio! On our last full day Aunt Lindsay, Aunt Katlyn, Grandma Annie, Lola & I all visited SeaWorld.
